1. How to be completely present
2. It’s ok to slow down and sleep late
3. It’s also ok not to make the bed or brush your hair
4. Exercise can be done almost anywhere with very little space
5. Time with loved ones is the most important thing in the world
6. Overthinking helps with nothing
7. Patience is everything

In celebration of our #day10quarantine test here’s some indulgent OREO FLAPJACKS 🍪

Ingredients for 2 ~

1/4 cup buckwheat flour
2 ripe bananas
2 free range eggs / chia eggs
1 tsp @nomuchirps vanilla extract
2 tbsp @lemcke_fine_oils coconut oil, for cooking
1/2 cup @oreo cookies, roughly chopped ~ reserve 2 for serving
@woolworths_sa whipped chocolate cream or yoghurt

Directions ~

1. Mash the bananas and mix in the eggs + vanilla extract. Add the buckwheat flour and combine well.
2. Heat a pan over a medium heat and add the coconut oil, once hot add a tablespoon of the mixture at a time.
3. Once bubbles start to appear on the surface gently flip until golden brown on each side.
4. Add cream or yoghurt + chopped cookies and tuck in 🥞

Here’s a SWEET POTATO + CINNAMON Sunday smoothie 🍠

Ingredients for 1 ~

1 cup @alpro almond / coconut milk
½ cup steamed sweet potato (cooled and peeled)
½ cup frozen banana
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp @good.life.organic turmeric
2 @checkers_sa medjool dates, pitted

Directions ~

Add all ingredients to a high-speed @omniblendsa and blend for 30-60 seconds until smooth and creamy. Pour into a glass and sprinkle with extra cinnamon 🥛

Hello QUARANTINE HOTEL breakfast 🥣

Lols jokes, but what I would give for a bowl of chewy choc oats RN 🤤

Ingredients for 4 —

1 cup @therefillerysa rolled oats
1 cup @woolworths_sa steel cut oats
3 cups water
3 cups @alpro almond milk
1 tsp @nomuchirps vanilla paste

Toppings —

2 bananas, mashed
1 tbsp @soaringfreesuperfoods raw cacao power
1 tbsp nut butter
1 tsp raw cacao nibs

Directions —
Bring the water + milk to a slow boil and add the oats + vanilla paste and stir. Reduce the heat to a simmer and cook for 20 minutes with the lid on, stirring occasionally. Add the raw cacao powder to the mashed banana and mix. Add oats to a bowl and top with the chocolate nana mix + nut butter + cacao nibs 🍌

Traveling during COVID ☁️

Here are some tips for anyone planning on traveling internationally #saveforlater

1. Make sure you have all your documents printed out (PCR test, passanger locator form, quarantine hotel confirmation) + allow extra time for airport arrivals for bag wrapping / checking in etc.

2. Pack extra face masks and wet wipes for the flight ~ @quatar_airways_ supplied a little sanitizer and spare face mask as well.

3. If you are claustrophobic like me, wearing a mask for 24 hours or more can be really challenging so bathroom visits during the flight and airport transit will help, sit down and do some breath work ~ deep breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth.

4. Pack snacks like nuts / granola bars and bring an empty water bottle to fill up. #stayhydrated

5. When you arrive at your destination be prepared for long queues at passport control and as well as waiting to be escorted to your hotel via a bus 🚌
When you arrive at your QH there is more paper work to complete before checking in ~ this added 3 extra hours on top of all our travel time #32hourslater

6. Pack healthy snacks / superfoods to use during your quarantine stay ~ so far the food and service has been amazing.

8. If you can, pack a yoga mat and some resistant bands in your bag for hotel room workouts.

7. We booked our covid test through our GP and requested a jet fuel drip to help support the immune system ~ it’s a concentrated cocktail of vitamins and gives the body a good boost for around 2 weeks.

—🍴☀️🌯 Rise ‘n shine with this delic $—🍴☀️🌯 Rise ‘n shine with this delicious BREAKFAST WRAP ☕️ Ingredients for 2 ~ 290g @clearspringafrica tofu, drained and mashed 1 tsp turmeric, ground 1 tbsp @woolworths_sa onion flakes 1 tsp garlic, crushed 1 tsp mixed herbs 1/2 cup portobello mushrooms, sliced 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, halved 1/2 avocado, mashed 1 lemon, halved 2 whole-wheat wraps Salt and pepper, to taste Rocket ~ optional Directions ~ Place a pan over a medium heat and add the tofu {you can add 1-2 tablespoons of water if you are using a very firm tofu} and add the turmeric + garlic + onion + mixed herbs and season. Fry for 4-5 minutes. Add the mushrooms and tomatoes and stir through to combine, allow to fry for another 5 minutes. In a separate pan, add one of the wraps and add the tofu scramble onto one half, fold and allow to toast. Gently flip and toast for another 2-3 minutes. Ingredients for 2 ~

500ml @olaokja oat milk or milk of choice
2 heaped tbsp @therefillerysa dark hot chocolate powder
1 tsp @soaringfreesuperfoods hemp seeds, for topping ~ optional
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon, for topping

In a small saucepan gently bring the milk to a simmer. Add the hot chocolate and whisk until creamy / foamy on top. Pour into mugs + add toppings🥛

Ok love you byeeee, going to fully submerge myself into my dreamy cup of hot chocolate now ☕️

Ingredients ~

85g @therefillerysa almond flour / coconut flour
½ cup @ohmega_nutbutters choc almond butter
⅓ cup @sweetlysays chocolate protein powder
¼ tsp @nomuchirps vanilla paste
¼ cup @soaringfreesuperfoods raw cacao nibs
¼ cup @crede_natural_oils coconut oil, melted
¼ cup @chaloner_sa maple syrup / raw honey
2 tbsp @soaringfreesuperfoods raw cacao powder, for dusting ~ optional

Directions ~

Line a small baking tray or board with wax paper and set aside. In a high-speed @omniblendsa blender / food processor add all the ingredients and pulse until the mixture is well combined and comes together. The mixture should be like a “sticky” dough. Use your hands or scoop and portion out a tablespoon of the mixture. Roll into a ball and transfer to the prepared baking tray ~ repeat with the balance of the mixture. Transfer the baking tray to the freezer and freeze for 30 minutes. Dust with cacao powder and enjoy!

NOTES: Makes 18-20 balls depending on size and last for up to a week in an airtight container stored in the fridge.

A SAVOURY QUINOA PORRIDGE for breakfast, lunch or

A SAVOURY QUINOA PORRIDGE for breakfast, lunch or dinner 🍽

Ingredients for 2 ~

1 cup quinoa, cooked
250ml vegetable stock
1 Punnet portabello mushrooms
½ cup parmesan, grated + extra for topping
1 tbsp butter
1 tsp garlic, crushed
1 tsp mixed herbs
1 tsp chilli flakes
Salt & pepper to taste

Directions ~

Place a frying pan over a low to medium heat and add the butter. Once melted, add the mushrooms and cook for 8-10 minutes. Set aside. In a large pot, add the cooked quinoa + vegetable stock + garlic + mixed herbs + chilli flakes. Bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer for 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper and turn off the heat. In a blender, add the quinoa and blend until smooth. Pour into bowls and top with cooked mushrooms + sliced parmesan + chilli flakes. Serve immediately.

@ground_the_venue has always been one of my favourite locations for hikes + picnics.. there’s even the most PERFECT #doggiefriendly cafe with a small menu that serves brekkie and lunch in such a pretty garden setting @ground_cafe_jhb 🧺

I highly recommend going for a visit if you haven’t! Even if it’s just for a good cup of @nakedcoffee_ coffee or simply want to escape to the country side 👒

Stacking my way through the week with a CLASSIC CAPRESE sandwich 🥪

Ingredients for 2 sarmies ~

4 slices @barrytheartisanbaker sourdough bread
40g grated mozzarella / @irenesgourmet mozzarella styled cheese
2 tbsp @hellmannsza mayo / vegan mayo
2 tbsp @pesto_princess basil pesto
1 handful baby spinach
6 slices tomato
Salt + pepper to taste

Lightly heat / toast the bread or have as is, add all ingredients and munch🍴

Getting into some food prep for the week with this creamy AVO + TOFU dip🍴

Ingredients ~

300g @clearspringafrica silken tofu
1 avocado, pip removed
2 tbsp chopped basil or basil pesto
¼ cup @_helms olive oil
1 tsp rosemary
1 tsp garlic, crushed
1 lemon, juiced
Salt + pepper to taste

Directions ~

Add all the ingredients to a high-speed @omniblendsa blender and blend on high for 1-2 minutes, scraping down the sides as you go.

Once smooth store in a large @consolglass jar and use on wraps, sarmies or as a veggie dip 🥕

Crunchy PEANUT BUTTER balls ready for snack time { $Crunchy PEANUT BUTTER balls ready for snack time {I’m going straight for the big one} 🥄 Ingredients ~ ¼ cup @therefillerysa almonds 85g almond flour ½ cup @nutbutterpower peanut butter ⅓ cup @sweetlysays vanilla protein powder ¼ tsp @nomuchirps vanilla paste ¼ cup @soaringfreesuperfoods raw cacao nibs ½ cup desiccated coconut, for rolling ¼ cup @chaloner_sa maple syrup / raw honey Directions ~ Line a small baking tray or board with wax paper and set aside. In a high-speed @omniblendsa blender / food processor, add the almonds and pulse until they are chopped and resemble coarse flour. Add the remaining ingredients and pulse the mixture until its well combined and comes together. The mixture should be like a “sticky” dough. Use your hands or ice-cream scoop and portion out a tablespoon of the mixture. Roll into a ball and transfer to the prepared baking tray ~ repeat with the balance of the mixture. Transfer the baking tray to the freezer and freeze for 30 minutes. Lightly roll the balls in the desiccated coconut and enjoy! It has been over a month of me fully submerging myself into meditating

..wait for it…
for ONE HOUR every.single.day 🧘🏼‍♀️

I honestly didn’t think I could do it, where was I going to find an hour in my already very hectic schedule to sit down for a full 60 minutes to meditate? Well my friends, yesterday was a teary day as I sat in stillness and felt so SO proud, proud for giving myself the time for MYSELF 💛

It hasn’t been easy! I felt so much pressure to still find time to finish my work, eat healthy meals, be a good wife / friend and move my body ~ which hasn’t happened since before our wedding BUT I realised I am moving, I’m moving my mind and there is something so special about that little shift, I’m still doing this for ME 🌙

Today I encourage you to do do something for yourself and that can look like sitting in the sun and drinking a coffee, sitting in a quiet place to focus on your breathing or simply just enjoying a hot bath 🛁
